4 Simple Steps to a Good Night's Sleep

A good night’s sleep is important for both your physical and mental health, which is why it is crucial to keep your bed and pillows clean and free of harmful bacteria.

We spend approximately one-third of our lives in bed, so it is important to keep our bedding clean and disinfected. The good news is that disinfecting your bedding is simple, and only requires a few household items.

STEP 1

Strip Off All Beddings

The first step is to strip off all of the bedding, including the sheets, pillowcases, and blankets, laundering them in hot water.

STEP 2

Vacuum the Mattress

To remove dust, dirt, and other debris that can accumulate over time, vacuum the mattress. It helps to prevent the growth of mold and mildew, which can cause allergies and other respiratory problems.

STEP 3

Wash the Beddings

The best way to do this is to wash them in hot water (at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit) using a disinfecting detergent and then tumble them in the dryer on high heat. You can also use a steam cleaner on your mattress and pillows to kill any remaining bacteria. Doing this helps to remove sweat, skin cells, dust, and other contaminants that can cause irritation or allergic reactions.

STEP 4

Clean Other Surfaces

In addition to cleaning the beddings, there are a few other surfaces in the bedroom that should be cleaned on a regular basis. The floor is one of the most important. The walls and ceiling are also important surfaces to clean. Do not forget to clean the windows. Dust and dirt can build up on the glass, making it difficult to see out. By taking the time to clean all of the surfaces in your bedroom, you can create a restful environment that promotes better sleep.

Finally, you can place your pillows in the freezer for a few hours each month to kill any bacteria or viruses that may be present.

By following these simple steps, we can help to ensure that our beds,  pillows and bedroom are clean and sanitary.
